Cozy and conscious fall essentials with Les Lunes

Cozy and conscious fall essentials with Les Lunes

My friends know that when it comes to fashion or comfort, I will always choose the latter, hands down.

In the colder months, comfort is even more important to me. The last thing I want to do in the winter is get out of bed, let alone put on uncomfortable clothes! Give me all the snuggly sweaters, fleece pajamas, and blankets I can pass off as scarves, please.

Of course, the inevitable consequence of my aversion to anything that isn’t as comfy as my PJ’s is that I end up looking like I just rolled out of bed, or am on my way to bed. And although that’s fine with me most of the time, feeling frumpy 24/7 can take its toll on my self-perception and mood.

Is it too much to ask for cute clothes that are also soft, comfortable, and warm? I don’t think so!

I’m happy to partner with Les Lunes, an ethical and sustainable brand that doesn’t think so either! Les Lunes combines luxurious comfort and softness with fashion-forward designs for the perfect fall wardrobe, and they do it all with care for the environment and the people who make their clothes.

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Les Lunes. I only partner with brands that meet my criteria for sustainability and ethics, and that I am excited about! Thank you for supporting the brands that support Restitchstance.

5 reasons to love Les Lunes:

Cozy and conscious fall essentials with Les Lunes

1. Natural fibers

I’ve come to realize that natural fibers often feel best against the skin. Synthetics, such as acrylic and polyester, can sometimes be soft and smooth, but are not breathable. Plus, these fabrics are essentially made of plastic and shed microfibers into our environment (ew).

I love that Les Lunes uses mostly natural materials, such as bamboo and organic cotton, to make their luxuriously soft clothing (some of their clothes contain a small percentage of Spandex for stretch). Their natural fabrics both feel amazing against the skin and are less harmful to the environment than synthetic fibers made of plastic.

2. Sustainability is at their heart

But even if materials are natural, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re sustainable or eco-friendly. Rayon, which is made from plant matter like tree pulp or bamboo, is natural and biodegradable—but the process of making rayon and giving it that soft, smooth feel is typically chemically intensive and toxic.

When Les Lunes approached me, I asked them about the sustainability of their clothing, much of which is made with bamboo rayon. Although bamboo is an eco-friendly crop requiring fewer pesticides to grow than other crops, like cotton, the process of making bamboo into a soft rayon fabric is chemically intensive.

Les Lunes said they are OEKO-TEX certified in order to ensure that they are minimizing their impact on the environment. OEKO-TEX assures a standard of environmental sustainability in the processing of raw fabrics, including the avoidance of known toxic chemicals (even if they are legal), determined through third-party testing.

Les Lunes is also a member of 1% for the Planet, which means that they donate at least 1% of their annual sales to environmental efforts!

3. Ethical manufacturing

In addition, Les Lunes is battling the stigma of “Made in China” by ethically making their clothes in China. They pay their mostly female workers 3-4 times more than market wages and provide a safe and spacious working environment.

4. Basics, but make it fashion

Les Lunes sent me their Steve Turtleneck Mini Dress and Fringe Scarf. These essentials for fall could easily fit into any wardrobe, but small details elevate them from your run-of-the-mill basics.

It’s hard for me to believe any clothing named after Steve Jobs (I am assuming it’s inspired by Steve Jobs’ infamous turtleneck uniform) could be sexy, but this dress truly proved me wrong. It fits like a glove and hugs all the right places without being revealing. Also, it has thumbholes at the sleeves that, at first, brought me back to the Myspace era where everyone I knew would, for some reason, tear their own thumbholes into the sleeves of their shirts…but proved actually functional as they kept my hands warm in the autumn chill!

I’m also in love with the dual-hued scarf; I think it adds a brilliant and fun colorblock element to dark winter outfits.

5. Last but not least, so comfy you don’t ever have to feel like you’ve gotten out of bed

Being the creature of comfort that I am, the best thing about Les Lunes is how dang soft everything is.

The dress is made from bamboo rayon and the scarf is made from recycled viscose. The dress is so smooth and soft against the skin that it doesn’t even feel like I’m wearing a form-fitting dress, and the scarf is really just a blanket I can wear outside without, well, looking like I’m wearing a blanket. I had no idea viscose could take this snuggly, fleece-like form, but I am so here for it.

For me, getting dressed in the colder months is a chore, but it certainly helps when the clothes I put on are even comfier than my pajamas!

been thinking a lot about progressive organizing wins this past election and how grassroots movements put the climate, racial justice, labor, LGBTQIA+ rights on the forefront of the political arena. never forget that our wins are because of the work of organizers and protesters, particularly Black & Indigenous activists.⁣

get pumped for the next 4 years—we’re just getting started pushing the “radical left agenda” lmao 😌
