Summer is my favorite season. Days are long, nights are warm, and the city feels so alive. And of course, I love summer fashion! Throw on a sundress and sandals and you’re good to go; but if you’re looking to get a little more creative with your outfits, I have three tips for throwing together easy summer looks!
All brands mentioned are sustainable and ethical.
These photos are from my recent Memorial Day/birthday weekend trip to San Juan Island!

1. Stay cool and cute in linen.
Linen screams summer, and it’s also one of the most sustainable fibers out there! One of my favorite ethical brands, Reformation, makes the most delightful linen clothes that make me want to empty my bank account and buy their entire summer collection.
I love this beautiful linen dress from Ref, which I wore to a fancy dinner on my birthday. The ruffle neckline and straps add a cute feminine touch while the vertical stripes and leg slit make me look super tall!

2. Stripe it off.
Pastel, rainbow stripes give me such a nostalgic, beachy feel, like I should be eating a soft serve ice cream cone on the boardwalk on a beach somewhere.
I wore this striped pajama set from Reformation on vacation recently, and 1) no one looked at me like I was wearing a PJ set outdoors, and 2) I felt super ~coastal aesthetic, if that’s a thing. Oh, and my boyfriend said I looked like a sexy beach umbrella. I’ll take what I can get.

I also wore a pastel striped crop top that I thrifted with a pair of high-waisted linen shorts from Reformation. Beachy stripes plus linen = a winning summer outfit combination!

3. Accessorize with a straw bag.
Straw bags have been trending hard these past two years, and I’ve been loving it because yay for natural, biodegradable materials and artisan-made goods! For an extra pop of color, tuck some fresh wildflower blooms into the clasp of your bag and let Mother Nature complete your look.
This bag from 31bits pairs perfectly with every summer outfit, and it’s made in Bali by artisans who are paid a fair wage. I absolutely love how cute it looks, but it’s also completely functional with a lining that keeps all your stuff from falling out when you open it.

Same here! It’s so comfortable and cool, and I love that it’s more eco-friendly than cotton!
